My Approach to Therapy
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (BCD). My 25+ years of postgraduate experience encompasses work with individual adults, couples, families, and groups in various clinical settings, from community mental health and psychiatric inpatient; to nonprofit family counseling agency; and private practice. I believe psychotherapy to be a process of discovery in which client and therapist work collaboratively toward resolving issues and concerns. There are many different styles of psychotherapy. My work is primarily informed by psychodynamic theory.

Whether you are grappling with a specific issue or struggling with a problematic pattern of reacting to and relating in the world and/or relationships; psychotherapy can facilitate solutions, growth, and change.
My work as a therapist depends largely on each client’s needs. Most often, I help my clients explore and better understand the complex dynamics behind their concerns to help them discover more flexibility and freedom in their ability with which to respond.
Perhaps the most important aspect of therapy—even more than a specific approach or technique—is the relationship between client and therapist. A key sign of a good fit is comfort in talking with your therapist and feeling that your concerns are safely received, understood, and kept confidential.
Continual professional development and learning are vital to providing quality therapy. To this end, I actively pursue ongoing training through various organizations and institutes, such as:
